Congratulations to our longest serving volunteer, Joanne, who was presented with her MBE by Princess Anne at Windsor Castle on 21st February. Joanne has volunteered with us since 1998 and received the royal honour for Services to Vulnerable Families in the Lisburn Area – well done Joanne, we are proud of you!
Home-Visiting/Family Group Volunteers – If you are a parent/grandparent/carer and have about three hours to spare each week, we are currently looking for volunteers to join our team. Full training and ongoing support provided, all expenses paid. Our next volunteer preparation course commences Monday 20th March and will run on Monday mornings for four/five weeks.
Trustee Volunteers – trustees are volunteers who help guide Home-Start and contribute to their leadership and direction. Home-Start Trustees help parents build better lives for children in their community.

As part of Volunteers’ Week, ‘A Time to Say Thanks’ we held a bread-making event with our volunteers, hosted by Kindergarden Cooks. We were joined by The Mayor, Alderman Stephen Martin and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their bread-making experience.

It’s time to say a gigantic thank-you to each and every one of our wonderful volunteers by celebrating Volunteers’ Day with them. We will be holding an event on Thursday 6th June with a Yoga/Pilates/Relaxation session, followed by pizza from Little Wing. All our volunteers are invited, and we look forward to showing how much we appreciate them giving their time and energy to support local families.
