Volunteering
There are several ways that you can help Home-Start Lisburn Colin in a voluntary capacity:
- by supporting a family as a home-visiting volunteer/Family Group Volunteer
- by joining the Trustee Board
- by helping with fundraising
Home Visiting/Family Group Volunteers
Home-Start Lisburn Colin’s home-visiting and Family Group volunteers come from many different backgrounds and vary in age, but all are either parents themselves or have parenting experience, and are carefully selected for their friendliness and understanding. All volunteers attend an eight hour preparation course, (with additional online learning), undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide two references before being matched with a family or with our Family Group. They then take their own individual skills and experience to the families they visit. Our volunteers offer their time and commitment and are non-judgemental.
Trustee Board
Home-Start Lisburn Colin’s Trustee Board is made up of local people from a wide range of backgrounds such as social care, law, HR and business. The main requirements of a trustee are a real interest in the work we undertake and a willingness to be actively involved in the running of the charity. The Trustee Board is responsible for the financial security of the organisation and ensures its strong governance.
